Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using MarkdownBin ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Account Registration
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service.
- One person or entity may not maintain more than one account.
- Registration may require an invite code at the discretion of the site administrators.
3. Your Content
- You retain ownership of content you create on MarkdownBin.
- By setting a document to "public" or "unlisted," you grant MarkdownBin a license to host, display, and distribute that content as part of the Service.
- You are solely responsible for the content you publish. Do not publish content you do not have the right to share.
4. Prohibited Content and Conduct
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Publish spam, malware, phishing links, or other malicious content.
- Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
- Distribute illegal content or content that violates applicable laws.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or connected systems.
- Circumvent rate limits, abuse reporting systems, or other protective measures.
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or bulk-download content without permission.
- File false or bad-faith abuse reports to harass other users.
5. Content Moderation
- Users and visitors may report content that violates these terms.
- Content that receives multiple reports may be automatically hidden pending review.
- Administrators may hide, remove, or modify content that violates these terms.
- If your content is hidden, you will be notified and may submit an appeal.
- Users who repeatedly violate these terms may have their accounts suspended or terminated.
- Abuse of the reporting system (filing false reports, coordinated reporting campaigns) will result in loss of reporting privileges and potential account suspension.
6. API Usage
- API access is provided via personal access tokens with configurable scopes.
- API usage is subject to rate limits. Exceeding rate limits may result in temporary or permanent restriction of API access.
- You are responsible for securing your API tokens. Compromised tokens should be revoked immediately.
7. Invite Codes and Referrals
- Invite codes may be required for registration depending on the current registration mode.
- Invite codes grant specific capabilities based on their tier.
- You may not sell, trade, or publicly distribute invite codes without administrator permission.
- Abuse of the invite system may result in revocation of your invite quota and account action.
8. Document Lifecycle
- Documents with an expiration date will be automatically removed after that date.
- Documents with no activity for an extended period may be subject to pruning per our data retention policy.
- Deleted documents are soft-deleted and permanently purged after a retention period.
- MarkdownBin is not a backup service. You are responsible for maintaining your own copies of important content.
9. Encryption
MarkdownBin offers optional at-rest encryption for documents. When enabled, your content is encrypted using your personal encryption key. If you lose your encryption key, your encrypted content cannot be recovered. MarkdownBin does not have access to your encryption key.
10. Termination
- You may delete your account at any time. This will permanently remove your account and all associated content.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.
- Suspended users will be informed of the reason for suspension and may contact administrators to appeal.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We are not responsible for any loss of data, including documents that are pruned, expired, or removed due to terms violations.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MarkdownBin and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify registered users of material changes.
14. Contact
For questions about these terms, contact the site administrator.
